Syria’s Ambassador to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari has spoken out against the three states that are leading an effort to conduct illegal military attacks on the Syrian Arab Republic. During his speech, al-Jaafari shamed the leaders of the US, UK and France be using examples of past leaders from these countries who themsleves understood situations similar to that which Syria faces today.
Beginning with Britain, Al-Jaafari said the following
“George Orwell, the well respected and ethical author in the west said that ‘In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act’. The truth that needs to be told today is that three permanent members of the security council (US, UK France) are dragging the world towards the abyss of war and aggression”.
Turning to France, Syria’s Ambassador compared the current conspiracy to destroy Syria to that which former French President Sarkozy engaged in during 2011 when he led the charge for the heinous war on the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. He said that Sakozy conspired to destroy Libya because he wanted to cover-up his financial corruption, for which he is now under criminal investigation. Al-Jaafari then praised the French traditions of Charles de Gaulle and noted that in 2003, under President Charac, France stood up to those who wanted to invade Iraq. Today, however, the Syrian envoy stated that “France is not respected at all”.
Finally, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari turned to the US referencing its leading founding father, saying:
“Gentlemen, shall I tell you about a sound that is higher than the sound of the cannons, it is the sound of the truth that emanates from the heart of a nation that longs to live free. We in Syria also have leaders like George Washington… and they are doing the same thing, they are protecting the unity and sovereignty of their own country”.
