Europe Stands Firm Against Trump’s JCPOA Withdrawal – Vows to Uphold the Deal

Europe’s High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has spoken moments after Donald Trump and vowed to preserve the JCPOA in spite of the US. Seeming undeterred by Trump’s threat to sanction countries doing business with Iran whose commerce to be used to help Iran build a would-be nuclear weapon, Mogherini called the deal the property of the entire international community and not just a single nation.

Invoking Xi Jinping’s philosophy, Mogherini vowed that Europe will work with Iran on a “win-win basis” in order to preserve the deal and that she remains optimistic against all odds that such a breakthrough will be possible.
