The top floors of the Taksim First Aid Hospital in Istanbul have smouldered for hours after a large fire broke out on the roof of the large facility. Eyewitnesses report hearing several loud explosions as the fire continued to spread. Emergency workers, hospital staff, firefighters and good samaritans are helping to evacuate the infirmed as well as much needed medical supplies.

While no cause for the blaze has been established, it has occurred hours after a school shooting at Osmangazi University in the Turkish city of Eskisehir and less than a day after Russian President Putin and Iranian President Rouhani held meetings with Turkish President Erdogan in Ankara regarding the Syrian peace process. Authorities say the fire is contained as of 18.10 local time.
